Today is the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15th October).

This week marks a chance for people who have experienced baby loss in pregnancy, at or soon after birth, or in infancy, to come together as a community and find a supportive space to share their experiences.

This week provides a good reminder for organisations to reflect on how they can best support their staff around this topic.

Ilaria Boncori PhD PFHEA FCIPD, a Professor of Organisation Behaviour and Human Resources Management in Essex Business School, at the University of Essex has been working in collaboration with colleagues to lead research on ‘Understanding the experience of early pregnancy endings as a workplace issue’.

The report includes a proposal of ten best practice principles for organisations to more effectively support individuals in the workplace who experience early pregnancy endings.
