This is some feedback from a bespoke ‘It’s About Race’ presentation, delivered by Dr. Roger Griffith to Barnard Castle School during January 2022.
“A big thank you, Roger, for taking the time to talk with us all today. The many relevant themes that you touched on have served to heighten my interest in topics that I’m already curious about. You tapped into my growing awareness of looking behind the historic well-known local names to discover what values they lived by (such as the stance they adopt in relation to the slave trade) over and above any good deeds that they did locally. You also touched on statistics relating to race and maternity/birth and this is something else I have strived to educate myself (and others when I can) about – it really is all spheres of life that I am learning to look at from many different perspectives. The ideas we shared as a department after your talk were great and I can’t wait to expand on them.” – Caroline Riley, Bowes House Mistress
