A Master’s graduate from Loughborough University, Julie’s academic research revolved around the social impact of migration.  Her undergraduate dissertation was on the fetishisation of East-Asian women, and her postgraduate dissertation explored the concept of home and belonging in contemporary poetry.

She has worked across race and gender equality, most recently focusing on the areas of misogyny and sexual violence. This included facilitating workshops for primary and secondary students on consent and boundaries, in the hope that early education will prevent future harm.
